After a couple of days in the wilderness of blogging software, I have at least a presentable face for the blog. In a few days I hope to have the custom look and feel back. In the meantime, enjoy a look at two spectacularly ugly devices that cost a fortune and don't come close to replacing a paper book. Sony's got one here, and Amazon.com has their bit of Kindling over here.
It never ceases to amaze me how poor the form factor is on these things. The Kindle supposedly has a nice reading surface, but it looks like an Atari reject out of the 1980's. It's like the tricorder in the original star trek series, except not made cool by William Shatner. It screams, "NERD WHO DOESN'T READ MUCH BUT LIKES TO BUY RETRO GADGET CRAP". This will not attract the fiction crowd.
